Okay, here is my one and only thought about the closed on Christmas discussion which we all seem to be involved…It is not about being closed on Christmas for our Protestant churches. It is being closed on Sunday…Case in point, next year Christmas will be on Monday and we will ALL be closed so that families can be together. The question therefore is about Sunday and not Christmas. And that is a question that we need to truly wrestle with and come to a conclusion.

I'm one of the pastors at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Kentucky where I've served for the past twelve years. My wife Susan and I have three children: Madelyn, Marshall and Melisa. When we aren't attending a ballet or ballgame somewhere, you can find us...oh who am I kidding... this season of life always finds us at a ballgame (Marshall and Melisa) or a ballet (somewhat less now that Madelyn is living in Anapolis, MD.). The sub-title of this blog is "Grace is no accident" which happens to be the defining reality of my life. God's grace (gift) is the reason we have breath in our lungs and hope in our hearts.
