A lenten prayer

Morning Prayer – Form 6
Celebrating Common Prayer

O Lord, open our lips
And our mouth shall proclaim praise

Blessed are you, God of compassion and mercy,
to you be praise and glory for ever.
In the darkness of our sin,
your light breaks forth like the dawn,
and your healing springs up for deliverance.
As we rejoice in the gift of your saving help,
sustain us with your bountiful Spirit
and open our lips to sing your praise.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
Blessed by God for ever!

This is from the Anglican book of Common Prayer which is a book of worship. I have previously encouraged all who would listen to get one of these books and begin to use it during your devotional times. To know that we are praying from a common text used by people for centuries is a powerful thought. We stand in a long line of people who have sacrificed for us, who have taught us, and who have carried us to maturity and beyond.
