I am sitting in the Dr’s office receiving the second breathing treatment of the day have already read the entire Wall Stree Journal and gone thru about 100 articles on my Blackberry reader and I have to admit I am ready to leave. If it was up to me I would have bailed an hour ago. Just not worth it in my mind. Have too much to do I tell myself. I wonder how often I/we bail before the end of things because we lose interest in them when we really know down deep they are best for us? Two words come to mind: Prayer and Bible study. Sometimes we might be our own worst enemy so to speak when it comes to practicing the spiritual disciplines that keep up spiritually health. Something to think about. Gotta go, the Drs coming!

I'm one of the pastors at First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Kentucky where I've served for the past twelve years. My wife Susan and I have three children: Madelyn, Marshall and Melisa. When we aren't attending a ballet or ballgame somewhere, you can find us...oh who am I kidding... this season of life always finds us at a ballgame (Marshall and Melisa) or a ballet (somewhat less now that Madelyn is living in Anapolis, MD.). The sub-title of this blog is "Grace is no accident" which happens to be the defining reality of my life. God's grace (gift) is the reason we have breath in our lungs and hope in our hearts.
